Top 10 Questions Couples Didn’t Know to Ask

Planning a wedding is hard. Every time you open social media there’s another new “perfect” trend, a bigger idea, or someone else’s highlight reel. Maybe family has strong opinions. Maybe the budget keeps shifting. Maybe it’s all starting to feel like pressure instead of joy. And when it comes to choosing photo + video, most couples don’t know where to start. If the only questions you feel comfortable asking are “Are you available?” and “What’s your price?” — that’s okay.

Over the years, couples just like you have shared the questions that helped them feel confident and protected. So here are the actually helpful ones — no pressure, no sales pitch. Just clarity.

1) How will you help us feel comfortable on camera?

Almost every couple worries about looking awkward. A great photographer reads your body language and gives gentle direction so you look like yourselves, not models posing.

2) What happens if the timeline falls behind?

Weddings are real life. Timelines shift. You deserve someone who adapts quickly without stress, panic, or missing important moments.

3) How do you protect our photos and video files?

This matters more than most couples realize. Professionals keep multiple backups — on-site and off-site — so nothing can ever be lost.

4) What’s your approach during the ceremony?

You want someone who captures everything without being a distraction. Quiet, respectful, almost invisible — but fully present.

5) Can you help organize family photos?

Group photos get chaotic fast. The right photographer brings a plan, a list, and confident (but kind) direction so you get back to cocktail hour sooner.

6) What will our photos and film make us feel like 10 years from now?

Trends come and go. Natural color, honest emotion, and real storytelling age beautifully.

7) Do you help with timeline planning?

You shouldn’t have to guess when sunset portraits should happen or how long family photos take. Great vendors build timelines that protect your experience, not just the images.

8) What happens if the weather changes?

Saskatchewan weather has moods. A professional adapts lighting, location, and gear to make beautiful images anywhere.

9) How do you handle audio for vows and speeches?

Half of a great film is great sound. Small details like mics and backup recorders make all the difference.

10) What will working with you feel like?

Not just the final photos — the experience. Will you feel rushed or relaxed? Posed or natural? Like you’re in a photoshoot, or just being yourselves?

You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to be “good at being photographed.” You just deserve someone who cares about your memories as much as you do.

My Philosophy on Capturing a Wedding Day

You are not actors. This is not a photoshoot. My first job is to make sure you have an amazing wedding day — the kind you remember with joy and warmth. Then, and only then, do I take beautiful photos.

Because here’s the truth: If you don’t feel like you had an incredible wedding, no matter how perfect the photos or video are, they won’t bring back the warm and fuzzy feeling you hoped for.

More Than the Wedding

Capturing a wedding is more than just documenting a ceremony. It’s painting a picture of your life today. In 40 years, will cars, fashion, and phones look the same? Probably not. That’s why I include all the little pieces — the real, everyday details — so future generations see your story exactly as it was.

Comfort Over Perfection

I keep my gear light and quick. I’d rather capture real emotion than a technically perfect pose. Other than a few portraits, I’m a bit of a fly on the wall — watching for the honest, unscripted moments that make a wedding unforgettable.

Your day should feel genuine. If you laugh, cry, dance, trip over your dress, hug your grandparents, or lose your voice on the dance floor — that’s the story I want to tell.

This may not have answered all of your questions, but, hopefully it will have addressed some of the bigs ones. Or maybe it helped spark a few you hadn’t thought of.

This here is my “why” their are the ones I do it for. This isn’t just a job for me, every booking allows me to be the father and husband I want to be.
